Terms and Conditions for Bird Essays: A Writing Contest by Indian Pitta and RoundGlass Sustain

Who is eligible to participate?

* The writing contest is open only to residents of India. 

* Entries open for two age categories – (a) 12-18 years and (b) above 18 years. A parent or legal guardian must consent to the participation of anyone below 18 years and agree to these Terms and Conditions as evidenced by their accepting the RoundGlass Sustain Terms and Conditions (“Parental Consent”)

* We may ask you for identity proof to ascertain the criteria mentioned above.


What’s the Duration of the Bird Essay Contest?

* The writing contest will be open from 1700 on May 13, 2023 to 2400 on June 10, 2023. All entries received after the given date will not be considered. The winners will be announced on July 3, 2023.

* The organisers reserve the right to extend the period if deemed necessary.


How many winners and what prizes?

1. The jury will select the two winners per category. The entries will be judged on the beauty of descriptive detail and the ability of the piece to convey a sense of moment and share what was experienced.

2. The winners will receive a book hamper from Indian Pitta. The winning entries will be published on RoundGlass Sustain.

* Prize is not transferable, non-refundable, and non-exchangeable

* Under no circumstances will the organisers be responsible and/or liable if the winner cannot be contacted. It further reserves the full right to disqualify the winner if any reasonable attempt to contact them via any medium deemed appropriate by the organisers has failed for any reason whatsoever.

* By submitting an entry the participant confirms that the writing they have submitted is original work by them; that the rights of any individual or organisation have not been violated, and indemnifies the organisers of the Bird Essay Contest against any action.

*Participation in the Bird Essay Contest and submission of an entry constitutes irrevocable permission for the organisers to use the entrants’ names and entries for content, publicity, and promotion of the Bird Essay Contest without any compensation or need for prior notification.

*Acceptance of the prizes grants the organisers one-time use rights to use the essay as to be published on web, print, or any other medium, for its promotions on social media and other channels, and for its free syndication to other publications.

*All copyrights will remain with the creators of the text. Text will be used with due credit.

* The judgement of the Bird Essay Contest is based solely on the discretion of the organisers and will be final.

* Any modifications/changes/discontinuation without prior notice in the duration & the schedule would be at the sole discretion of the organisers.

* The information you provide will only be used for the Bird Essay Contest and will not be divulged to third parties.

Liability and responsibility

* The organisers will not be responsible for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications lines failure, theft or destruction, unauthorized access to, or alteration of, user or member communication, or any problems or technical malfunction of the Website, any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of e-mail or players on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet and/or Website.

Other Details

* The organisers reserve the right to change, cancel, terminate and/or suspend the writing contest, without the need to provide any prior notice. It serves the rights to modify, suspend or cancel the writing contest in the event of technical interference or corruption due to but not limited to computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the organisers.

* The organisers reserve the right to disqualify participants found or suspected to have tampered with the Bird Essay Contest through the submission process, during the operation of the Bird Essay Contest or violating the Bird Essay Contest. The organisers also reserve the right to disqualify or take legal action against any person who it suspects to have infringed any of these terms and conditions and interfered in the Bird Essay Contest via fraudulent activities or activities harmful to the Bird Essay Contest, its submission process, the website, and the Instagram or Facebook site.

By participating in the writing contest, participants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, and all decisions by the organisers are final and binding. The organisers reserve the right to change, amend, add or delete any of these Terms and Conditions without prior notice at any time and participants shall be bound by such changes.
