Hawk moths are also known as Sphinx moths as the resting position of their caterpillars resembles that of the Great Sphinx of Giza. 

How do hawkmoths contribute to the ecosystem?

Hawkmoths pollinate deep-throated flowers using their long tongue. They fly long distances, across oceans, pollinating endangered native plants.

Are hummingbird moths the same as hawk moths?

Hummingbird moths are a species of hawkmoth that mimic the movement of hummingbirds while collecting nectar.
