Are chameleons found in India? 

Yes, the Indian chameleon also known as the Asian chameleon is found all through India south of the Ganga. They inhabit dry, thorny and scrub forests.

Can Indian chameleons change their colour? 

Indian chameleons do change their colours to thermoregulate, that is, maintain body temperature and also to communicate with other chameleons. 

Are Indian chameleons toxic? 

No, Indian chameleons are not toxic. Their skin has bright colours due to the presence of cells called chromatophores that contain different pigments. These pigments are present in layers under the outermost (transparent) layer. 

Can chameleons rotate their eyes 360 degrees?

Yes, Indian chameleons possess 360 degree vision as they have eyes that are capable of independent movement. They lock both their eyes on prey when they are hunting/stalking.
