What does the call of the mangrove pitta sound like?

The call is a throaty, fluid two-part "wheew-wheew" whistle. Mangrove pittas usually perch on high vantage points and vocalise.

Where are mangrove pittas found?

Several parts of Asia, including India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Myanmar. In India, restricted to mangrove patches in the Sundarbans, West Bengal, Bhitarkanika National Park, Odisha and parts of Andhra Pradesh. Their preferred habitat are forests and wetlands.

What do mangrove pittas eat?

Mainly crustaceans, insects, and molluscs. Forage on mud around mangrove roots and in adjacent drier areas
