If you are fascinated by birds, participate in our contest! Just submit a short essay on any bird from the city or the wild

WHAT IS THIS WRITING CONTEST ON?

The flutter of a wing. A glistening beak flashing in the purple whorls of the Jacaranda. A song to match the snazziest tune. You do not have to travel far to feel the magic of the avian world. Birds are all around us – in our gardens, city parks, roadside trees and sometimes, even atop the city’s busiest traffic signal. Aaasheesh Pittie’s book The Living Air is a celebration of this ubiquitous beauty.

If you are fascinated by birds, this contest is just right for you. All you have to do is write a short essay on any bird. It can be about an observation in the garden, by the roadside, or from the jungle. The essay can also capture a larger scene in a wetland, grassland, or any wild space.

HOW DO I SUBMIT MY SHORT ESSAY?

1. To send in your entry, write a short essay on any bird (under 500 words) and then simply go to the form here.

2. Upload your essay, fill in the required details, accept the terms and conditions, and hit submit.

3. Entries are open for two age categories – (a) 12-18 years and (b) above 18 years – make sure you select the right one!

Read the Terms and Conditions here.

SELECTION PROCESS

1. The jury will select the two winners per category. The entries will be judged on the beauty of descriptive detail and the ability of the piece to convey a sense of moment and share what was experienced.

2. The winners will receive a book hamper from Indian Pitta. The winning entries will be published on RoundGlass Sustain.

TIMELINES

The writing contest will be open from 1700 on May 13, 2023 to 2400 on June 10, 2023. The winners will be announced on July 3, 2023.
