All you need to know about one of the smallest bustard species in the world

Where are lesser florican found? 

Lesser florican are found in India, Pakistan and Nepal. In India they breed in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana and desperse to a larger range during the non-breeding season. 

What is the conservation status of the lesser florican? 

The lesser florican is critically endangered according to the IUCN Red List. Threats include habitat loss, overgrazing, invasive species, hunting and agrochemicals.

When do lesser florican breed? 

Lesser florican breed from July to September, depending on the southwest monsoon. They lay 3 to 5 eggs on bare ground in a grassland or crop field.
