Striped hyenas usually scavenge on carcasses and human refuse. They are adept at consuming bones. They can hunt medium to small-sized prey.
Where are striped hyenas found?
Striped hyenas prefer savanna, scrub, grasslands, rocky hills, ravines and forest habitats. They are found in arid and semi-arid ecosystems across peninsular India, absent in the Northeast and the Himalayas. They are also found in Northern and Eastern Africa, the Middle East, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
