Put together this puzzle to see the rare and elusive sentinels of the Himalayas
There are two species of snowcocks found in India—the Tibetan snowcock (Tetraogallus tibetanus), and the Himalayan snowcock (Tetraogallus himalayensis). Snowcocks are pheasants adapted to high-altitude environments with heavy snowfall. While the Tibetan snowcock has a wide distribution across Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan, and China, the habitat of Himalayan and Tibetan snowcocks occasionally overlaps in India, in Ladakh. Tibetan snowcocks are often spotted foraging in coveys or small flock. Read this story on the snowcocks of India to know more.
