All you need to know about this black and yellow skimmer
Where is the common picturewing found? It is found South and Southeast Asia, in open freshwater bodies: ponds, lakes, marshes and paddy fields.
What does the common picturewing eat? Nymphs feed on aquatic insects including mosquitoes wrigglers and adults feed on small insects.
Why is the common picturewing called "Onathumbi"? They are most abundant during the Onam season in Kerala, they are called "Onathumbi" in Malayalam.
