All you need to know about these ambush predators of the reef

How do hawkfish get their name?

Hawkfish are named after their hunting strategy. They “perch”, hawk-like, at high points of the reef and dive down to ambush their prey.

Where are hawkfish found?

They are found in tropical coral reefs across the world.

Are hawkfish gender fluid?

Hawkfish are born female. Some will transition into males as they grow. Occasionally some males revert back to being females (sequential hermaphrodites)
